The Pathwork Lectures
The lectures are the heart of the Pathwork PDF Print E-mail

The lectures given by Eva Pierrakos from 1957 until her death in 1979 are the heart of the Pathwork. They are an astonishing roadmap to self-responsibility, self-knowledge, and true self-acceptance. They point the way to genuine love of self, others, and the Divine.

Eva Pierrakos

The lectures cover the wide spectrum of our human journey, from our struggles with self-doubt, self-hatred and fear of inadequacy to the barriers we put up to relating with others, and ultimately with what we each know as God. The lectures teach that vital life energy, feelings and insight are often buried under misconceptions about the nature of reality. We are all familiar with some of these wrong conclusions. For example, "It's weak to need and accept help; I don't deserve love and kindness; responsibility means a loss of freedom."

When such misconceptions are carried into adult life, particularly when they are unconscious, we surrender our physical, spiritual and emotional freedom to forces beyond our awareness. The effect of this loss of freedom are devastating-deep-seated unhappiness and a profound poverty of spirit.

The Pathwork lectures offer specific, practical tools for dissolving misconceptions, for making the unconscious conscious, and for activating the greater consciousness dwelling within every human soul.

Every human being senses an inner longing that goes deeper than the longings for emotional and creative fulfillment. This longing comes from sensing that another, more fulfilling state of consciousness and a
larger capacity to experience life must exist.

Pathwork® is a registered service mark of the Pathwork Foundation.

In the Pathwork Guide Lectures, psychology and spirituality are brought together, religion and atheism walk hand in hand, East and West no longer collide, reason and faith support each other, thinking and feeling don’t exclude each other, negative character traits no longer need to be repressed, denied or justified. I began to understand my life and Life. God, Brahman, Allah or the Universal Spirit is talking to us, the messages becoming clearer and clearer throughout history.

–Gerard van de Lustgraaf

The Pathwork is grounded in 258 lectures, delivered over 22 years by Eva Pierrakos. Here is a sampling of what the lectures offer.

Acceptance: Right and Wrong Way; Dignity in Humility (#37) PDF Print E-mail

"Happy is the person who has truly declared for God! But how few such people are there in your world! Some of you have reached the place of surrender on the long road upward. Others think they have done so merely because they have made some half-hearted compromises. What is a wholehearted decision for God? It always involves giving up something. It may mean letting go of an opinion, a desire, perhaps a way of life. Yet in reality you do not give up anything, but the act of "giving up," which is how this surrender appears to you, must be carried out.

acceptance

"Only after you have proven your willingness and taken this step will you find that you actually receive much more than you have given up: you find that you have given up nothing! This paradox is veiled in a cloud of unknowing, which automatically disappears when a person has proven the willingness to sacrifice something important for God. Many people have mistakenly interpreted the law that governs a decision for God to mean giving up the world and retiring to a cloister. Such ascetics often give up nothing, while others remain in the world and truly surrender their lives. In the wholehearted declaration that they have made for God, His will and its fulfillment is expressed in deed, in word, in intention. That others around such a person may never know this is quite natural. Often God gives back what one has first given up....

The Compulsion to Re-Create and Overcome Childhood Hurts (#73) PDF Print E-mail

"Since children so seldom receive sufficient mature love and warmth, they continue to hunger for it throughout life unless this lack and hurt is recognized and properly dealt with. If not, as adults they will go through life unconsciously crying out for what they missed in childhood. This will make them incapable of loving maturely. You can see how this condition continues from generation to generation.

"The remedy cannot be found by wishing that things were different and that people would learn to practice mature love. The remedy lies solely in you. True, if you had received such love from your parents, you would be without this problem of which you are not really and fully aware. But this lack of receiving mature love need trouble neither you nor your life if you become aware of it, see it, and rearrange your former unconscious wishes, regrets, thoughts and concepts by aligning them to the reality of each situation....

Reaching the Spiritual Center (#116) PDF Print E-mail

"In mundane psychology, the goal is the resolving of inner conflicts so as to function better. As I have said before, this must inadvertently, as it were, bring a person into contact with his or her spiritual center. But that is not its goal. Our aim is just that -- and it must solve all problems along the way...

"Each life has something different to fulfill -- and all lives have the same to fulfill. Again, this may appear as a contradiction, but it is not, my friends. Keep in mind that the goal of this path is finding the center of your being which is reality, which is God, and through which you find fulfillment -- not in isolation but in unity....
